The UTOC Hangar is a tall long span truss structure to accommodate airplanes. The stability of long span members is dependent on secondary members and infill members that were not installed during the first stages of steel erection. CSD worked with the steel erector to determine minimum bracing requirements and lift planning for long span trusses over 200 feet in length. Columns nearly 100 feet tall required special design consideration as well for temporary construction loads. CSD was able to work with the Engineer of Record to modify column base details to ensure that columns were adequate for construction wind loading without the roof structure in place.
