As part of the massive project for SDI in Texas, CSD provided complete project structural design, including design of the building superstructure and its connections, building foundations, a majority of the equipment foundations, and several of the equipment platform structures and their connections. Due to the project’s fast-tracked construction schedule, it was imperative for CSD engineering team develop a schedule of drawing releases to stay one step ahead of our construction counterparts.
Part of this project included a multi-story reinforced-concrete platform structure that supports the casting machine and related equipment. The structural design drawings of this platform were completed and released in an order that had been determined with the concrete contractor and the owner so that areas of the platform were released according to the construction sequence of the platform. This meant that parts of the platform were being constructed before the entire platform had been designed.
CSD experts worked with the client to modify equipment and platform layout to help reduce the cost of the structure and create a more effective operator layout for the owner. Drawing from the experience and expertise of the entire CSD team, our engineers used unique solutions to the complex challenges of this project.
