The Coresite LA3 Generators are multiple diesel-powered electric generators that supply emergency power for a data center in Los Angeles, California. Due to limited space on the site, the generators are stacked in pairs. The generator enclosures and fuel tank bases were fabricated as modules, trucked to the site, then assembled on a concrete foundation. As Engineer of Record, CSD designed the two-story enclosure and fuel tank base structures. CSD was selected as the Engineer for this project because of our experience designing complex generator enclosures, expertise in designing steel structures in seismically active areas, knowledge of the client’s fabrication preferences, and good relationships from previous successful projects.
