CSD provided architectural and structural engineering services, and managed the civil, MEP, and fire protection consultants hired by our client.
The project consists of the alteration and renovation of an old aircraft hangar with bowed wood trusses into a construction equipment rental facility. It is across the street from the Waukesha County Airport. The alteration scheme was intended to mimic a 1950’s style hangar that previously existed on the field. Large expanses of glass were used on the east and west sides of the facility for day-light and to accent the bowed wood trusses at night. Faux hangar doors were designed into the front of the building to give the impression that the building could be opened. The large stone monoliths that anchor the ends of the renovated facility are functional interior space that house rest rooms and utility rooms.
