The Applied Research Center at Florida Polytechnic University features laboratories, student space, conference rooms, and offices. The two-story building includes a unique geometric design with a large section of the building cantilevered over an open public area.
CSD faced a schedule challenge in this project for a long-term client. The schedule was time-critical to provide an erection plan and direction to the steel erector in advance of the start of the project. As Erection Engineer for the project, CSD’s flexibility and responsiveness were critical to the success of the project.
Shoring towers were required to provide adequate support to the unique cantilever truss section of the building. Temporary bracing and specific erection sequencing were required to ensure proper position and stability. CSD worked with the steel erector to use equipment and hardware on hand at a nearby construction site to ensure that schedule deadlines were met.
