Designing the foundations to support a new reheat furnace, which heats steel billets in preparation for shaping in the rolling mill, CSD worked as preferred vendor for structural design on this project for Steel Dynamics. A new building addition was also needed to provide shelter for the furnace and overhead crane access for maintenance. The project was in an existing facility which is old and did not exactly match existing drawing information, requiring intense coordination with the owner and contractor to provide the correct information for the construction to proceed smoothly.

CSD provided engineering on members, connections, bracing and foundations by employing computer software such as Ram-Concept and Revit. Our practical design solutions ensured that the design was straightforward to implement while balancing customer needs and code requirements.
